The Bible Warned us of Days Like This

2Timothy 3:1-5  This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.   For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,   Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,  Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;  Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

It's almost as if the Apostle Paul was seeing clearly into our day and seeing the self-destruction through "self-love".  I don't even know where to begin with all the disturbing headlines being beamed into our homes these days. The United States of America has never been more divided: black vs. white, Democrats vs. Republicans, Muslims vs. Christians and Jews, "gay and whatever else you want to label it" vs. "straight", legal residents and American citizens vs. illegal aliens, pro-life vs. baby murderers...it's just overwhelmingly mind-boggling.

Psalm 2:1-3  Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?   The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,   Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.

I go from being outraged, to sorrowful and unbelief in what I'm seeing when I witness the latest of the absurd activity that is now commonplace. It's almost like people are deliberately trying to outdo the last heinous act, and for what? To gain a few moments of ill-gotten fame on the evening news?

When I was younger in the Lord I thought it my duty as a Christian to be vocal about everything that I noticed which wasn't lining up with Bible truth...but these days I have come to understand that Jesus has us here to call out to the lost, to rescue the perishing, and that often we will fail in getting them to understand. Jesus said to watch and pray in Matthew chapter 24, and that is the wisest thing we can do, actually. We need to be aware of the time we are living in, to heed the signs, just as we would heed the road signs that  lead us as we travel to a new destination. Like Pilgrim in Pilgrim's Progress, we cannot allow others to keep us from continuing on the journey the Lord has us on. When Pilgrim was in Vanity Fair, the distractions and the fun and games, and the funny people made it difficult to leave. But if they do not want to join us on our heavenly journey, we sadly have to leave them to their fate.

Psalm 2:4,5,&9  He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.   Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.
Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.

We cannot save everyone, that isn't what we are called to do. Jesus saves, not we, we are to warn and to bear witness to the good news of the the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ Who suffered for us that we do not need to bear the burden of our shame. He bore our guilt for us and nailed it to the cross. But that grace is offered out, the warning cry is being sounded, and who are the wise who will answer the call? One day our voices will be silenced, and the door of decision will close, and the final curtain call will have passed. On which side of that door will you be when that door closes? Will you choose the wicked pleasures of this world and join the enemies of God as they shake their angry fists at Him to accuse Him of their own wickedness? I see the men and women that now lead the United States of America, or what used to be America...  calling evil good and good evil, while they boast of a better way. They blaspheme God while they speak evil of the land of Israel. Be warned! Time is very short.

Psalm 2:10-12  Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.   Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.   Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

  2. Susan, you are dead on, with your post.

I like this part especially, "We cannot save everyone, that isn't what we are called to do. Jesus saves, not we, we are to warn and to bear witness to the good news of the the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ Who suffered for us that we do not need to bear the burden of our shame. Spread the Word. Warn them for the time of our Messiah's Return draws nigh. God Bless You, my sister.

    1. Thank you Keith, yes, time is running out.
Psalm126:5-6 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
It might not seem like much but in the Lord’s hands a little can feed a multitude. ❤️
God bless you greatly Keith. :)

  3. Excellent post, Susan! I pray that unsaved people will read it and that it will serve as a wake-up call for them. Truly the signs of the End Times are upon us, the time is very short, and the laborers are few. As you so beautifully point out, only Jesus saves, so we are not held accountable for our "success" in bringing others to Him, but only for our obedience.
    God bless,
    Laurie

    1. Amen, Laurie, we don’t know what the Lord might be doing in the lives of others, our outreach is only successful through Him, He gets all the glory. ❤️ ...so we have no reason to boast, however we must try to be diligent. Thank you for your encouragement, I pray that we may bring many sheaves into the harvest 😊🙏

  4. Hi Susan,
whatever we have been called to do in the body of Christ on earth we shall be equipped to do by God. Different gifts are given to different parts of the body, and all will work together to bring about God's plan. Jesus says 'In Me you have peace.', and this is one of the ways we can test ourselves to see if we are in the right Spirit. The enemy is cunning, and will work through the carnal mind to try to cause us to doubt certain things, but God the Father has already sent the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth, and I find that as I grow in Him I learn more and more how to test the spirits.
God bless you for sharing, Susan, what God has given you to share. I love those scriptures - they are very encouraging.

    2. Just to add Susan,
I am not that brilliant regarding technology and the Internet, and am not on things like twitter and Facebook. My two favourite things are painting and writing, but I have not done any painting for a long time and would like to get back to it. I found Facebook was not my thing and came off it after a while, but I do enjoy blogging.
Thank you for your encouragement too Susan.

    3. I’m on Facebook more than I should, probably, in a few groups, but not on Twitter or any other network. I want to get into painting! I have a bunch of “how to” books for drawing and painting. Right now I’m working on a needlepoint of my own design. When I get a little further on it I’ll do a post on it because there is a story behind it. Thanks Brenda, you bless me so much!!

  5. By the way, Susan, I've been singing the old Shirelles song, "Mama Said", the past few days. I kept asking myself, "How in the world, did that song get stuck in my head?". Then I remembered your post. Now, instead of singing,

"Mama said there'll be days like this / There'll be days like this mama said...",

    I'm singing

"The Bible aid there'll be days like this / There'll be days like this the Bible said."

LOL Have a Great Day, my sister.

  6. We can learn by contrast:
For Christians shall be lovers of others, giving, boasters in the cross, humble, reverent, obedient to parents, thankful, holy, with true natural affection ... lovers of God rather than lovers of pleasure. Like their Master and Model.
