But that brings me to the topic of planting another type of seed...the seed of the Gospel. It's easy enough for me to do online in the anonymity of my cyberspace persona, but what about in real life? I must confess that I am lacking in that area.
I love watching Ray Comfort videos on Youtube, seeing the ease with which he approaches strangers on the street by laying out the truth of us being horrible sinners in need of saving, and then go on my merry way thinking that I will witness to people as the Lord moves me, but yet it seems I never get moved to do so, sigh. To my way of thinking it is wrong to have cookie cutter answers to people's objections, and yet I should begin somewhere, and the Lord can and does use even the most meager offerings for His good, doesn't He? Just like my wanting to get my garden ready for planting, we should also prepare ourselves to be able to talk with people and try to answer all their objections lovingly and prayerfully. Just as the ground needs to have weeds removed, we too musst be able to prepare and remove weedy objections so that the seed might find the good ground to take hold and not be carried away by birds, or choked out by weeds.
Anyway here's a video put out by Ray Comfort's organization that gives some tips on how to get out there and talk with complete strangers (and also friends and family members) about Jesus. Let's get out of our comfort zones and stretch those faith muscles out in the real world planting heavenly seeds with the intent of seeing people's lives truly changed for Jesus.
Dank je wel!
ReplyDeleteHalo Aritha! Graag gedaan 😊
DeleteHi Susan,
ReplyDeleteI also love Ray Comfort! It's amazing how he basically uses the same approach with everyone, yet effectively reaches people of all backgrounds and cultures. May you be blessed in sowing the seed of His Word, and also in your gardening!
Laurie
Hi Laurie! Yes, he has a basic format, but it isn’t a word for word memorized speech, but it’s always a dialogue where he asks questions and genuinely listens to how they answer before taking them through the steps of what Jesus says about it, and done in such a loving way, he truly cares to see people genuinely saved by the healing words of God’s Truth.
DeleteThank you Laurie, may we each shine the truth of God’s word to a dark world, so that many will rejoice at the coming of the Lord when He comes. ❤️
Hi Susan,
ReplyDeleteYes, you have hit the nail on the head. He is speaking the truth IN LOVE, and not condemning or insulting people as some street preachers do. And part of how he shows His love is by listening and discerning how each person is different, so that he can witness more effectively. May God help us to share His Word, whether online, in person or through whatever door God opens.
God bless,
Laurie
Amen Laurie. Often when I see Christians address the problem of sin, it seems to be done in a pharisaical spirit of "You filthy sinner! Repent!" But we were once as they are, and the Apostle Paul taught that we are to come to them in a spirit of gentleness and empathy not condemnation. Jesus said the pharisees would seek the world over to make a convert and then make him twice the son of hell that they themselves were...and it still goes on today.
DeleteI pray that we will seek the Lord's wisdom as we tell the world about a Saviour that came to save them.
