A Fresh Start and a Hope for Better Things

January at our house is usually covered in a snowy blanket. Although I do not enjoy shovelling our driveway and pathways, it sure does look pretty on the landscape. The whiteness reminds me of what the Bible has told us about washing away sins to make us “white as snow” (Isaiah 1:18)

Most of us have high hopes of a fresh start at the beginning of each year. It’s a time for new year’s resolutions, a time to hope that this year will be better than last year.

When I came to Jesus (or, rather, He came to me) I was trapped in a terrible sin condition that I wasn’t even aware of. Looking back I see what horrors I was headed towards and were already enveloping me before Jesus rescued me. When He saved me He washed all of that away. He caused me to understand how much I needed Him and that His blood was enough to wash away all my sin. His righteousness which is perfect and pure as white new fallen snow is the righteousness He sees when He looks at me. God had mercy on me, a sinner, and gave me a new beginning, a clean start, that begins and ends with what He has done and continues to do in my life.

May you also enjoy a new fresh start in Jesus cleansed of all sins by His blood sacrificed for you. He gave His life so that we can live forever with Him. ❤️

  1. Hi Susan,
Praise the Lord that His shed blood washes away our sins till we are white as snow in His sight!

Having lived up North, I agree that fresh snow blanketing the landscape and shimmering on the tree branches is a beautiful sight! Not to mention the unique beauty of each snowflake! But now that I live in Florida, I can't say that I miss shoveling snow, crawling along an icy road, or weathering extreme cold!

Thank you for the lovely post. May you and yours have a blessed New Year,
    Laurie

    1. My husband sometimes talks about moving somewhere where the winters are milder, like Hawaii ❤️🙂but we enjoy our home even though we have some bitterly cold days. Thank you Laurie, your blogposts are a blessing.

    Me, too.

    Weeping.

"When He saved me He washed all of that away."

    Amen, amen. Thank you, Lord.

    1. I was hopelessly lost until Jesus rescued me. Thank the Lord He saved us from ourselves, our self destructive fallen natures.

  3. Hi Susan. I too was wrapped in sin before I came to the Lord, but one thing that did was hive me understanding of how others are who have not come to the Lord, and when we have empathy, then we have sympathy. I have been able also to share my near death experience with people too, one day with a lady who was crying after her young son had died, and where he would be because of Jesus's sacrifice. He wipes away our tears. God bless you Susan.

    1. Hi Brenda, so true, our former lives gives us empathy for those still trapped. We were all slaves to sin but the life and death of Jesus were done for us, to set us free. His amazing grace is more than we will ever understand, and too wonderful. ❤️Thank you for your encouragement and reminder to be faithful in our day to day interactions to bring glory to God as we share precious seeds.

  4. hi Susan,
Your blog reference is high on the right side of my blog. For some reason it won't come up lower down with the others. If you know how I can put this right let me know. I am not great with technology:-)

    1. I’m not that great with technology either, lol, it took me several months to even get back on blogger and I don’t know what I did right to fix my problem ☺️ It’s ok, those who need to hear something thing the Lord wants to say to them will find it somehow, and if not from my musings perhaps the Lord will direct them where He needs. Your poetry is so good, have you considered getting it published?

  5. Hi Susan,
thank you for your very kind comment about my poetry, it is all down to the Lord. It is only after my near death experience that the Lord led me to write whatever I write. I have not considered getting it published because there is a scripture that says 'Freely you have received, freely give' and I would not like to make money from it. I did put some booklets together regarding my experience with the Lord, and used to sell them at a car boot sale just for what the material to put them together cost me more or less. If a table top sale comes up in the churches nearby or in some outdoor places when the weather gets warmer I will ( God willing ) take all the many things I have there to do the same. Now I will be able to see when you put a post up, and look foreward to reading them.

    1. You are so right about giving freely and taking only to cover your costs. I just would love to see more people blessed with your poetic gift ❤️☺️🙏

  6. Dank je wel Suzan. Dit herken ik. Wat een wonder dat Hij ons riep uit de duisternis. Alle eer aan Hem, die ons witter wast als sneeuw.
